Name: Missy Cardenas
About me and my family: I have been married almost 18 years and have 2 daughters, 17 and 15. We live in Carmel and like to go out once on the weekend. I’m laid back, and don’t sweat the small stuff. I have an aggressive form of Rheumatoid Arthritis and get monthly IV infusions of medicine. Four years ago, there were days I couldn’t walk, lift my arms, dress myself, or dry myself off after bathing. Because of modern medicine, a healthy diet and constant exercise, I’m happy to say I’m 3 and half years flare up free.
Occupation: Owner of a small hair salon and stylist
Hobbies/Interests: I’m always up for a physical activity but particularly I like being outside in the Spring and Summer. I like water activities and I love Florida and the beach. I enjoy lifting weights at home a few days a week.
Fitness Background: Swimming, Volleyball and lifting weights. Started Hot Yoga and Reformer 4-5 days a week in my late 30’s.
How long have I done Crossfit: 4 months
Class I attend: 5:30 am and occasionally 4:30 pm
What I love about Three Kings: The coaches and their attentiveness. They push you as hard as you can go. The variety of exercises and team effort from everyone. It’s just so positive!
How has Crossfit changed me: I’m doing things, I would have never dreamed I could do. Therefore, I think that gives anyone a confidence boost.
What would I tell someone wanting to start: I would say GO FOR IT! Everything is scalable and don’t say you can’t do it. It’s the best feeling in the world when you walk out and sit in your car after a workout that you didn’t think you could get through.
